Working on V5

Just a heads up to the entire CAG community that myself and some of the other steering committee members may not be on CAG as much in the coming weeks as we begin serious work on "Project V5," also know as version 5 of the CAG site.

This new version will be the biggest change to CAG since we migrated from PHPBB2 to PHPBB3 four years ago, and because of that we'll take our time to be sure we get it right. To quote the gaming company Blizzard, "It'll be released when it's finished"

On a side note, because of a security hole in the MyPages add-on it's files have been removed from the server. This means the Mypages links and system are currently not working. And, since the author is MIA it will only return as "read only" after version 5 of CAG is launched.

Dungeon Defenders PC DLC not coming to consoles

Dungeon Defenders' smaller-scale DLC, available on PC through Steam, will not be available for the XBLA or PSN versions of the tower defense action title. This content includes: current and future Holiday DLC, the New Heroes Pack, the Barbarian character, Assault Mission Pack, Nightmare Mode, Shops and more.

"After much thought and investigation, we've decided it's unfeasible from both a technical and business standpoint to bring the PC-only content to the console versions," Trendy wrote on its forums, as noted by XBLAfans. "This is for a variety of reasons including the massive restructuring of the current console game that would have to take place, the QA process necessary to prepare for submission, patch size limitations, patch stacking requirements, and the opportunity cost of pursuing other projects."

Major expansion packs like "The Lost Eternia Shards: Mistymire Forest" DLC, of which there are still three more planned, will make their way to consoles. Although this isn't the best news for fans on XBLA or PSN, the PC game goes on sale pretty consistently, so picking it up at a bargain shouldn't be a hardship.

Back in the beginning of June, 2011, Cliff Bleszinski was joined onstage at the Microsoft E3 Event by none other than actor and rapper, Ice-T. Together, Cliff and Ice demoed the Gears of War 3 Co-op gameplay. As the presentation ended, Cliff and Ice announced that Ice would be lending his voice to Gears of War 3 as the former CEO of Griffin Imulsion Corporation, and stranded leader, Aaron Griffin.

Today, we have a very interesting rumor coming from YouTuber, TheAustrianToast, regarding DICE’s plans for future Battlefield 3 DLC.

In a dual commentary with DCRUColin, TheAustrianToast revealed, ”I have a source telling me that there will be an all American DLC.” He added that these maps would be based on locations like “New York City, Miami, New Jearsey, and I think it was San Francisco.”

Before Battlefield fans get a little too excited, since his sources were never revealed, we have to consider this a fairly wild but rather likely rumor. Rather likely, because if we take a look at the recent Back to Karkand maps, they are already based on various cities in the Middle East. This also seems to be the overall theme with Battlefield 3 – environments within city limits, as opposed to Battlefield: Bad Comany 2′s more open environments. It would make sense for DICE to stick with what the Frostbite 2 engine seems to do really well.

TheAustrianToast later stated in this commentary, ”I mean, the all American DLC pack is a great idea and should actually come out middle, or in the beginning of summer.

Lastly, a while back, DICE mentioned that they weren’t into making “map packs,” but rather “expansions.” This would most likely mean that we would also see a new set of weapons, vehicles, and assignments much like the recent Back to Karkand expansion. On top of Battlefield 2143 rumors, DICE also considered the idea of a snow-themed expansion, something many Battlefield 3 fans have been craving since Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

$300 version of new handheld will now include free 8GB memory stick, PSN game, AT&T 3G data plan access; $350 First Edition preorders to receive just the PSN game and data plan.

Potential PlayStation Vita purchasers have another option to consider, as Sony today announced new incentives to pick up the 3G versions of its hardware bundles.

For a limited time, those who pick up the $300 3G Vita package will receive an upgraded bundle with an 8GB memory card ($30 when sold separately); a 30-day, 250MB AT&T DataConnect Pass ($15 on its own); and a PlayStation Network game. The data plan and PSN game will be provided upon online activation of the system. The standard $300 3G Vita does not include a memory card, which is a required accessory for many of the system's games.

Gamers who pick up the $350 First Edition bundle will also receive a bonus. While they will have to settle for the 4GB memory card already announced as part of that package, Sony will still offer them the DataConnect Pass and PSN game upon activation. The First Edition also includes a limited edition case and a copy of the launch game Little Deviants, not to mention that it goes on sale February 15, a week prior to the Vita's February 22 wide release.

Once activated, the DataConnect Passes for both packages will automatically renew for a $15 fee every 30 days, although users are able to cancel their subscription at any time.

Beyond the 3G bundles, Sony will offer a $250 Wi-Fi-only model of the PS Vita at launch.
