Each year we hand out CAG Awards to those CAG users who go above and beyond for their fellow CAGs. This year we are using the Medal Nomination system to accept nominations for CAG Awards. Nintendo is slowly catching up in the online department, as Satoru Iwata unveiled the "Nintendo Network" in an investor presentation today. The "Nintendo Network," whose logo was just spotted on the Japanese Theatrhythm cover, will cover "competitions and communication among users, as well as the sales of digital content," Iwata said, for both 3DS and Wii U. Elements, like the "Community" building functionality, have already been implemented in Mario Kart 7.

For the Wii U, the Nintendo Network will support multiple personal user accounts per system, finally ending Nintendo's insistence on tying software purchases to a single system.

The Network may also entail digital sales of retail 3DS games. "This concept was built into the design of the Nintendo 3DS, and we already have the necessary infrastructure," Iwata said. "We will prepare the same infrastructure for the Wii U. However, we have not decided the concrete timing of when we will start it."

It is becoming more and more likely that Treyarch, developers of Call of Duty 3, World at War, and Black Ops, are indeed naming their next project “Black Ops 2.”

This most likely will not come as a surprise to many considering the success of the original Black Ops as well as the mass success of the Modern Warfare franchise. Surely, Activision would not pass up such an opportunity.

Yesterday, Fusible.com discovered the domain name “blackops2.com” to be secretly purchased by Activision. While this still does not confirm a Black Ops 2, as Activision could simply be protecting their IP, it does suggest what many of us are already assuming. To build the hype even further, David Vonderhaar, Lead Gameplay Designer on the original Black Ops, has been quite transparent as to what to expect from the next Call of Duty.

The big question is, do you want to see a Black Ops 2, or something different?

Insomniac done with Resistance

Insomniac CEO Ted Price has said the company is done with the Resistance franchise.

"We won't be making any more Resistances," Price told VG247. And that's that.

The company previously announced it's moving on to multiplatform projects like Overstrike, a four-player co-op shooter, which will hopefully pan out as a more substantial and integrated experience than the company's previous grand experiment in multiplayer co-op, Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One.

At least Insomniac ended its work on the Resistance franchise on a high note. Resistance 3 was easily the best in a series that had been trying to find its footing this entire console generation.

Next-gen Xbox to launch October/November 2013 with this GPU

The next-gen Xbox's GPU will derive from 2011's AMD 6000 series, similar to the Radeon HD 6670, which supports DirectX11, 1080p HD, multi-display output and 3D, IGN reports, citing sources close to the project. Mass production of its GPU will begin at the end of 2012, IGN says, with a full-console launch scheduled in October or November 2013.

With these specs, the next Xbox will have six times the processing power of the Xbox 360 and is expected to support performance 20 percent greater than Nintendo's Wii U, which is using the R770, a chip that is competitively stronger than the GPUs of both the Xbox 360 and PS3.

Previously uncovered Microsoft resumes listed gesture and voice input, which suggests some form of Kinect integration will be present in the coming Xbox model.

If you're currently hoarding a few extra Microsoft Points on your Xbox LIVE account, you may want to consider buying your avatar a fancy new hat, because Microsoft might be cashing out of the points business.

Inside Mobile Apps is reporting that 2012 will be the curtain call for the Microsoft Points system. This news purportedly comes from a "source with knowledge of the company's decision." Obviously, it doesn't sound very official, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that Microsoft finally discontinues the awful points system.

Every single points-based payment system in existence was created on the notion that the points and the purchase price are never quite equal. So, you'll always have to spend 5 or 10 extra bucks to get that game, DLC, or avatar outfit that you've got your eye on.

Supposedly, Microsoft will be replacing their scammy points system with a much less annoying cash/credit card portal.

I, personally, would be far more inclined to buy something from the Xbox LIVE marketplace if I knew that I wasn't being fleeced by the points system. So, obviously, I can wholeheartedly get behind this decision.
